Management Team
John's career in the wholesale propane business began in 1988. He helped build Gas Marketing, a local Yankton-based family business, into a major supplier on the Midwest pipelines. In 1996, Canpet Energy Group acquired Gas Marketing followed by Plains All American’s acquisition of Canpet in 2001. As Director of US Propane for Plains, John helped integrate a series of large acquisitions into the US Supply and Logistics Group, specifically Plains Midstream Canada's acquisition of BP Canada in 2011 and multiple NGL assets belonging to Westcoast Energy – a subsidiary of Spectra Energy – in 2016. Fueled by these and numerous other acquisitions, John was soon managing the largest independent propane wholesaler in the US, moving over 2 billion gallons annually. In September 2018, John left Plains to pursue new opportunities. His vision was to create a cost efficient company with streamlined processes, supported by a seasoned staff, represented by a passionate sales force whose focus was on the customer experience. January 1st, 2020 that vision became a reality when Meridian was launched.
In 2005, Jared began his career in the wholesale propane business as a Sales Representative for Plains Marketing. Over the next 5 years, he developed his territory in North and South Dakota before becoming the Senior Sales Representative for the Midwest in 2010. Jared helped to grow the region to over 500 million gallons in annual sales and managed 10 Sales Representatives. As the shale revolution gained momentum, he helped develop 3 new rail terminals in the Midwest and worked to secure keep dry agreements at several Bakken gas plants. In March of 2018, Jared was promoted to Trader. Jared left Plains in September 2018 to pursue other opportunities. His shared ideals for a nimble, customer-centric business model lead him to partner with John in the development of Meridian.
